To approve the policy for how applications for
Discretionary Business Grants will be determined.
The policy was drafted in response to the Government’s
announcement that Council’s would be able to award grants to
businesses not already covered by an existing funding stream linked
to the impact of the Covid 19 lockdown. All local authorities
across Devon contributed to the development of the policy, which
also allowed for local variations depending on the types of
business in their area. Without a policy in place there was a risk
that the funds would not reach enough businesses in need of the
financial support.
