Request for Tariff Increase for Hackney Carriages including Fuel Surcharge PDF 161 KB Additional documents:
Minutes: The Licensing and Regulatory Committee were asked to consider a request from the trade for an increase to the tariff and a re-introduction of a fuel surcharge.
The Committee noted information provided by way of the report and the oral representations of the Licensing Manager, particularly that the request for the increase of the tariff had come from the trade. Three Proposals were put before the Committee as detailed in the report. The Report laid out the procedures involved if the tariff change was agreed.
The Committee discussed the need to balance support for the trade following the pandemic and considering fuel price increases with ensuring that any price increase remains competitive to prevent a loss of customers.
Decision
It was unanimously agreed to adopt Proposal B - Option 4(a) that being a 10% increase in both Tariff 1 & 2 and for the Council to carry out an annual review of the tariffs. The Committee approved the statutory requirement for the Licensing Manager to arrange the advertisement of the proposal to increase the tariff.

Minutes: The Licensing and Regulatory Committee was asked to consider an application for a Private Hire Vehicle Licence for a Mercedes S class vehicle EXZ 299, and the issuing of a small plate.
The Committee noted the information provided by way of the report and written representations provided by the Applicant. In particular it noted that the vehicle had passed both an MOT and Taxi inspection test with no advisories.
The Committee was satisfied that the vehicle was in excellent condition and that public safety would not be compromised by the granting of the licence sought.
Decision. Accordingly, the Committee granted a 12 month licence as detailed in the report and approved the request for a small plate to be used on this vehicle.
