The Sub-Committee noted the information provided by way of the report and the example plates provided. The Applicant was unable to be in attendance, but the Sub-Committee noted that this vehicle was a replacement for a previous vehicle which had been granted a small plate.

 

The Sub-Committee were satisfied that the vehicle was in a good and sound condition and that public safety would not be compromised by the display of a smaller plate than is standard.

 

Decision

The application to display a small plate on vehicle Mercedes GLC, vehicle registration CR15 KHO be approved.

 

Having considered the photos of the vehicle and read all written material, the Sub-Committee considered the resolution above would be best suited to the applicant whilst meeting the Council’s licensing responsibilities.

The Sub-Committee noted the information provided by way of the report. In particular the Sub-Committee noted that the vehicle’s MOT certificate expires in March 2027, with no advisories. The vehicle had also passed its taxi inspection test. The Applicant was in attendance and was given a chance to address the Sub-Committee and confirmed that the vehicle had recently been bought to replace a vehicle and was intended to be used for trips such as airport runs.

 

The Sub-Committee commented that although the age of the vehicle was above the Council’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicle licensing policy the vehicle appeared to be well looked after and in a good and sound condition.

 

The Sub-Committee were satisfied that the vehicle was in a good and sound condition and that public safety would not be compromised by the granting of the licence sought.

 

Decision

Accordingly, the Sub-Committee granted the new Private Hire Vehicle Licence as detailed in the report with no additional conditions.

The Sub-Committee noted the information provided by way of the report. In particular the Sub-Committee noted that the vehicle’s MOT certificate expires in October 2026, with no advisories. The vehicle also passed its annual vehicle inspection test. The Applicant was in attendance and given a chance to address the sub-committee. The Applicant confirmed that the vehicle is maintained and serviced regularly and is only used for weddings and proms.

 

The Sub-Committee commented that the vehicle appeared to be kept in a good and sound condition although noted the age of the vehicle was now above the Council’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicle licensing policy.

The Sub-Committee noted the information provided by way of the report. In particular the Sub-Committee noted that the vehicle’s MOT certificate expires in February 2027, with no advisories. The vehicle also passed its taxi inspection test. The Applicant was in attendance and was given a chance to address the Sub-Committee and confirmed that the advisories on the vehicle test had all been fixed.

 

The Sub-Committee commented that the vehicle appeared to be in a good and sound condition although noted the age of the vehicle was now above the Council’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicle licensing policy.

The Sub-Committee noted the information provided by way of the report. In particular the Sub-Committee noted that the vehicle’s MOT certificate expires in April 2027, with no advisories. The vehicle had failed its annual vehicle inspection test but had then passed a retest. The Applicant was in attendance and given a chance to address the sub-committee. The Applicant confirmed that the vehicle is reliable and the failures on the inspection test were minor things such as a cracked mirror which have now been fixed. The vehicle is maintained and serviced regularly, including regularly replacing the tyres and the applicant is happy to arrange for the wheels to be aligned if this would reassure the sub-committee.

 

The Sub-Committee commented that the vehicle appeared to be kept in a good and sound condition although noted the age of the vehicle was now well above the Council’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicle licensing policy.

 

The Sub-Committee were satisfied that the vehicle was in a good and sound condition and that public safety would not be compromised by the granting of the licence sought.

 

Decision

Accordingly, the Sub-Committee granted the Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence extension as detailed in the report but with the additional condition that the vehicle undergoes 4-monthly taxi inspection test to monitor the condition of the vehicle due to its age being significantly higher than is set out in the policy.

The Sub-Committee noted the information provided by way of the report. In particular the Sub-Committee noted that the vehicle’s MOT certificate expires in May 2027, with advisories. The vehicle had failed its vehicle inspection test. The Applicant was not in attendance, but a letter was read out to the sub-committee explaining that there had not been time between the taxi test and the sub-committee to get the failures fixed.

 

The Sub-Committee commented that the age of the vehicle was now above the Council’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicle licensing policy.

 

The Sub-Committee were not satisfied that the vehicle was in a good and sound condition and that public safety would not be compromised by the granting of the licence sought.

 

Decision

Accordingly, the Sub-Committee refused to grant the Hackney Carriage Vehicle Licence extension as detailed in the report due to the vehicle not having the required documentation as set out on the taxi and private hire policy and the concern that the vehicle is not currently in a good and sound condition as required for carrying passengers.

The Sub-Committee noted the information provided by way of the report. In particular the Sub-Committee noted that the vehicle’s MOT certificate expires in March 2027, with advisories. The vehicle also passed its annual taxi inspection test. The Applicant was in attendance and given a chance to address the sub-committee. The Applicant confirmed that the advisories have been repaired and a new engine had been fitted 2 years ago. The rust mentioned in the advisories has been checked further and is just surface rust so not structural.

 

The Sub-Committee commented that the vehicle appeared to be kept in a good and sound condition although noted the age of the vehicle was now above the Council’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicle licensing policy.
