The Council's
Constitution provides a set of rules on how the Council operates,
including how the Council will make decisions and the procedures
which have to be followed to ensure that these are efficient,
transparent and accountable to local people and
businesses.
Some of the processes are
required by law, whilst others are practices that the Council has
decided to adopt. Citizens have a number of rights in their
dealings with the Council and these are set out in detail in the
Constitution.
